iOS, Android, Windows phone… Which one would yu prefer ???

Image

To put it bluntly, I can ask yu a direct question.. Will yu prefer a completely customisable Android or the fully customized iOS or the developing and self updating tiled Windows platform? But there is much more to it…

iOS

Image   If I pick up an iPhone to make a call, I feel, like the phone is talking to me and saying,

“Hey yu !! Yes yu… Yu picked me up to make a call, so why don’t yu just go on with it and leave me alone!!“

I mean, there is nothing in there to hover around like some animated backgrounds, nice app widgets like the gallery widget or music widget or the BlinkFeed etc like that on the android or there aren’t any self updating live tiles that of Windows. I mean no sparkly stuff. Its simple which become dull after yu spend some time on it. Everything is predetermined, regulated and CONGESTED… Oh my god!!!

But the result is a clean, snappy and lovely to use devices. The elegant design and the integration of iDevices with iTunes, iStore, Appworld etc takes yu to a whole new world where yu make your iDevices a part of your daily activities, more like a part of your body (They integrate with yu like the sword in the hands of Achilles(Brad Pitt)). Yu need not spare even a single minute modifying or redesigning any part of your software. Yu will love the experience though yu will get bored with the interface soon.

Android

Image   Coming to android, it’s an open operating system. Some companies apply their own flavor to it and if they fail to impress yu, then yu can apply your own (like different launchers). One can install third party apps. Yu can laugh at a person who buy apps on android play store as premium apps are freely available all over the internet. Still doesn’t like it, open ROM s are available all over the internet. Just jailbreak it and apply your own ROM by following some simple instructions.

That was really funny when Eric Schmidt said few days ago that “Android is more secure than Apple iOS” . Just look at the following

  • 72% of all Android apps on Google Play access permissions they shouldn’t.
  • 21 percent (more than 86,000) access five or more.
  • 2% (more than 8,000) access 10 or more permissions flagged as potentially dangerous.

When Blackberry announced bbm for android and iOS, nearly 10 to 15 apps appeared on android play store on the release date with the same name ‘bbm’ and the same logo as that of blackberry s bbm. Google being such a huge company will be expected to be have minimum degree of regulations, but there seems to be none. One can see only the company’s intentions to cross Apple store in the total number of apps that it host. Only quantity, not quality.

Windows

Coming to Windows OS, neither there are countless number of apps that we want to talk of, nor complete customization. Windows entered with a little bit of customization from the users end. The companies that undertake this OS can’t modify it or the users can’t poke it. But I found that elders are able to cope up with this much better than others and that might be because of the clear black display and the bigger fonts. A fairly closed OS with clear UI.

Think about which one yu guys prefer???

And finally, the kind of rivalry that we see between Apple and Google in smart phones and tablets market reminds me of what happened between Apple and Windows on computer segment. Similarly like the then Windows desktop operating system, Google s Android smartphone OS might make Larry Page and Eric Schmidt the richest people in the world.

After all that is what made Bill Gates the richest person right???

Isn’t it surprising that the new iPhone 5S doesn’t have NFC ??

Image

“The most forward thinking iPhone yet” as purported by Apple for its new flagship phone iPhone5S fails to include the new NFC (Near Field Communication) sensor. All other manufacturers are ready for a ‘tap-to-go’ or ‘tap-to-swipe’ and our iPhone 5S isn’t ready for that yet. While Japan (Sony), Taiwan(hTC) and South Korea(Samsung) and India (Micromax, Karbonn) are competing in the technology race by including everything from an infrared blaster to NFC on their flagship models, did Apple forget to include or is it ignoring it and concentrating on something else which might replace the nascent NFC technology? Bypassing this Apple managed to insert a 64 bit processor which wasn’t welcome. Many people are ready to forego the 64 bit processor to a better battery.

What is NFC?

Image

Means Near Field Communication. (I don’t want to go to Wikipedia to define it) NFC means just wave your Smartphone in front of NFC tag, and make your device do whatever yu want. Eg: Yu went to a movie and in the theater yu happen to come across an NFC tag and yu waived your smartphone, then your device automatically opens the movie reviews, show timings, wallpapers, ticketing details and also the profile of your device can be adjusted according to the theater.. What ever yu want, feed it to the NFC tag and wave your phone for it to be done.

Why Apple choose to ignore NFC?

Apple likes to keep things simple, plain and easy to use (The main reason why Jobs hated a tablet with stylus in the first place). It doesn’t let anyone intrude into its operating system (Like touch wiz, timescape, sense on android). Its Apple’s ATTITUDE and many people like that attitude. Apart from the lot of things NFC is presently doing, NFC can be mainly used in railway stations, metros, ATM center s etc. For all these to happen there is a lot of infrastructure development which is not even ready in the developed countries yet and which takes lot of time and money to happen. And by the time everything comes equipped with, iPhone 5S will be long outdated.

So Apple ignoring NFC on its new flagship phone can be justified to some extent but a mobile phone which costs 60,000 Indian rupees lacks a feature that is simply available in a mid range android and windows phones.
